Well, that depends on the type of supplement you’re talking about. There are two kinds: fat-soluble and water-soluble.

1. Tonik moves through the throat down into stomach.

2. Nutrients are broken down by the stomach acids.

3. The small intestine is where the absorption happens.

4. Water soluble vitamins & minerals are absorbed into the blood stream.

5. Fat soluble vitamins are absorbed into the lymphatic system.

6. No further digestion occurs in the large intestine.

Did you know that many supplements are made of up to artificial colours, preservatives and 30% filler ingredients, which have no medicinal value, just to make the formula look like one uniform colour?

We chose to minimise the use of colourants and filler ingredients so that we could maximise the power of the plant medicine in each capsule. As a result, our signature capsules each have a high concentration of ingredients in their original form which is why each capsule looks different and is as unique as you are.

Because singular ingredients in the right concentration are much more powerful. We include only nutrients in the dosage shown by science to make a difference to your brain, beauty and body. Sometimes, this means we use higher quantities than a traditional multivitamin — which often contain less than impactful amounts. But rest assured that each quantity is safe, tested, approved and there for a reason. If it’s in Tonik, you don’t need to get it from anywhere else.

Our active ingredients are bioactive (meaning they’re easily absorbed in the gut) and bioavailable (better assimilated for maximum benefits). When choosing what nutrients to use in the Tonik supplements, bioavailability is key. What that means is that your body can actually absorb and use the nutrient — which isn’t always the case with other supplements.

Is Tonik vegan? Is Tonik vegan?

Everything is vegan aside from our gel cellulose capsule encasings.

These are made from sustainably sourced bovine, which helps the capsule bypass your stomach acid, reach the small intestine, and better absorb into your bloodstream. Meaning? Much gentler on the stomach.

Due to manufacturing technology we cannot use vegetable cellulose encasings as the potency of our ingredients will deteriorate the capsule casing, causing them to have a much shorter shelf life.

We are trialing vegan options and testing their efficacy. The moment we are able to, we will manufacture vegan-friendly capsules.
